Who we are

Transkribeer is a product of All Things Yellow BV (BE 0507.817.368), Destelbergen, Belgium. Questions about this policy or your data: support@transkribeer.com.

The principle: your audio stays yours

Transkribeer is a Mac app without accounts. Your recordings, audio files and transcriptions live on your own computer. We run no servers that keep your files — except, temporarily, when you explicitly choose the paid cloud service (see below).

What the app processes, per mode

  • Local Whisper — everything runs offline on your Mac. Nothing leaves your computer.
  • Your own API key (OpenAI or Google Gemini) — your audio goes directly from your computer to the provider you chose, under your own account and their terms (OpenAI, Google). Your API keys are stored encrypted on your own computer and are never sent to us.
  • Pay per recording (cloud service) — see the next section.

The paid cloud service

If you choose "Pay per recording", the app sends your audio to our server (api.transkribeer.com, hosted on Cloudflare's edge network), which forwards it to OpenAI for transcription. Concretely:

  • What we process: your audio (during transcription), the resulting text, the chosen language and your IP address.
  • Why: the audio and text to deliver the service; the IP address solely for abuse prevention (daily limits).
  • How long: transcriptions are automatically deleted after 30 days; audio is not kept after transcription; IP counters expire after 48 hours.
  • Shared with: OpenAI (transcription; OpenAI does not train on API data), Cloudflare (hosting) and Stripe (payment — we never see or store your card details).
  • Security: all connections are encrypted (TLS); service credentials are managed as encrypted secrets.

Error reporting

When the app crashes or hits a technical error, it sends an anonymous error report (error message, technical context and app version — never audio, transcripts or API keys) to Sentry, processed within the EU. The same applies to errors in our cloud service.

Website and updates

transkribeer.com runs on Cloudflare and uses their anonymised basic analytics; we set no advertising or tracking cookies. The app checks GitHub for updates on launch; no personal data is sent along.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your data. Since we keep almost nothing, this is largely automatic: cloud transcriptions disappear after 30 days. Want something deleted sooner, or anything else? Email support@transkribeer.com. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.
